Life Without Parole + 20 Years
The State secured an automatic sentence of life without parole for the capital murder of a young woman killed in her own apartment — plus 20 years for a second victim the defendant lured to the scene and shot. He fled to New Mexico and was captured the next day, and the case, built with the Midland Police Department and Texas Rangers, held the jury to guilty verdicts on both counts.
Three Life Sentences
A repeat child-sex offender was convicted on all three counts and handed three life sentences after the jury deliberated just three hours. A prior conviction made the aggravated sexual assault counts carry automatic life terms, and the court added a maximum life sentence on the indecency count — ensuring at least 30 years before any possibility of parole.
Life in Prison + $10,000 Fine
After a week-long trial in the 142nd District Court, a Midland County jury convicted on all counts — including aggravated sexual assault of a child — and returned a life sentence with no possibility of parole, plus a $10,000 fine. Four additional victims came forward to testify about abuse spanning three decades.
26 Years in Prison
Facing a habitual offender with two prior DWI convictions, the prosecution took the case to a Midland jury and won a guilty verdict on a third DWI — resulting in a 26-year prison sentence.
8 Years in Prison
After deliberating less than 20 minutes, a jury convicted a Midland man of deadly conduct for a targeted drive-by shooting that put eleven rounds into a family’s front door and bedroom. The prosecution tied him to the scene with neighborhood security footage, classmate testimony, and gunshot-residue analysis — securing an 8-year sentence with an affirmative deadly-weapon finding.
